Story Prompt Friday: When Has a Meal Ever Tasted So Good?

Summary

I recall the shared effort and the profound sense of togetherness this pilgrim meal represented; what has made a meal memorable for you?

Note

I‘ve been virtually retracing my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage steps - 5 weeks, 500 miles - as I do every year on the anniversary. Memories of shared meals hold a special place in my heart as a significant part of my pilgrim journey. Some albergues offered a pilgrim dinner menu for 5 or 7 Euros, including vino tinto, spaghetti, lentils, French Fries, fried trout, green beans with garlic, and perhaps a green salad or fruit for dessert.

One memorable night when the albergue hospitelero was unable to prepare their signature paella dish we pilgrims set out into the village to buy supplies from the small mercado. Working together we prepared a simple but delicious meal: sliced tomatoes, potatoes boiled in their jackets, diced bacon with wilted spinach, and huevos fritos: eggs basted in copious amounts of olive oil. I recall the shared effort and the profound sense of togetherness it represented.

Story Prompt

What has made a meal memorable to you? Write that story!

Practical Tip

The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story.
