Motivate Your Monday: What Makes a Good Pilgrim?

Episode Summary

As you walk into your week I greet you: Buen Camino, peregrino!

Note

I have been retracing my boot steps across Spain as I remember the anniversary of my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. 5 weeks - 500 miles - border to border.

My journal reminds me how hot, tired, fatigued and doubtful I often felt. Early on in the first week I wrote this line, “I don’t make a very good pilgrim.”

What was I thinking? At that point I was still walking in my old shoes, my old habits, my old thoughts. I had not yet put my head and heart and body into sync. Until you learn this lesson you will likely feel that you don’t make a good pilgrim - whatever that means for you. It is both the curse and the blessing of the Camino; but the only way that you will learn.

I can’t say today whether I make a good pilgrim or not. I can say I have walked a path I will never walk again and yet here I am retracing my boot steps across Spain. As you walk into your week I greet you: Buen Camino, peregrino
